A New Look - Introducing Girl Rising’s Brand Identity

I am delighted to share Girl Rising’s new brand identity, which reflects our organization's remarkable growth and evolution. From our beginnings as a film production company and global campaign, we have evolved into an international non-profit delivering impactful programs in eight countries, touching the lives of millions of adolescents.


As we approach the 10th anniversary of the premiere of the Girl Rising film and our first international programs, we recognize the need to reflect on our past and chart a way forward. Our approach to achieving our mission has evolved to respond to the changing barriers to girls' education. Though laws and policies have improved, climate change, conflict, and gender-based violence have worsened these barriers. In the face of crises that disproportionately impact girls and women, Girl Rising has adapted, transforming the way we partner with organizations and tailoring our programs to meet the unique needs of adolescents in different regions. And we have launched Future Rising, our new strategic program, to harness the power of educated girls to address the global challenge of climate change.


As our organization has grown, we realized the need for a new brand identity that better represents our work as an organization rooted in storytelling and advancing girls' right to a quality education. We updated our original bird symbol to better represent movement and aspiration, which reflects our focus on showcasing the stories of the girls in our programs - their solutions, contributions to communities, and visions for a better, more just future.


At Girl Rising, we understand the power of girls' education to create positive change. We use concentric circles to represent the ripple effects of our work and the multiplier effect of educating girls. These circles symbolize our commitment to amplifying the voices of the young women who participate in our programs and the vast reach and impact of storytelling to build understanding, spark change, and galvanize movements. Our color palette has also evolved over time, reflecting the diverse geographies where we work and our multi-cultural team. We've added blues and greens to our palette, which represent our work through Future Rising.


At our core, Girl Rising remains dedicated to using storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Girl Rising film and our first international programs, we are even more determined to build a world where all girls learn, rise, and thrive. While our work is far from over, we are inspired by the progress we have made and the stories of girls who are leading change. We invite you to join us on this journey to create a better future for all.
