In February as Girl Rising celebrates Black History Month, we also shine a light on how Black history and Black stories are being suppressed. Over 30 state legislatures across the country have introduced bills to limit the discussion of racial history. Over 300 books by predominantly Black authors discussing race, gender and sexuality, were also banned in the last year alone. At Girl Rising, we stand up against this erasure - and instead embrace stories to confront challenges, shape social change and amplify voices that need to be heard.
