Tara Abrahams

Tara Abrahams is a passionate global advocate for girls and women who is currently head of impact at The Meteor, a media collective that uses the power of storytelling to advance gender equality. She also serves as a senior advisor to Co-Impact, a philanthropic organization that brings together local changemakers and funders to advance gender equality and women’s leadership around the world. 

Tara was a member of the founding team of Girl Rising, serving as policy advisor, deputy director, and president. She served as board chair of She’s the First, and following our merger now serves as co-chair of Girl Rising. She is also the board chair of ICRW Americas and a trustee of the Brearley School in Manhattan.
Prior to joining The Meteor, Tara served as a managing director at Arabella Advisors, as interim managing director of VOW for Girls, an initiative working to end child marriage worldwide, and as executive director of The Girl Project at Glamour.

Tara graduated from Harvard College and completed her MBA at Harvard Business School, where she received the Horace W. Goldsmith Fellowship for outstanding contributions to the nonprofit sector. In 2022, Tara was named a Presidential Leadership Scholar as part of a joint program led by the Clinton Presidential Center and the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
