What We Do
Girl Rising, now merged with She’s the First, drives lasting change through three interconnected programmes that work powerfully together - with girls, in schools, and in communities.
Through our Girls Leadership Programmes, RISE Education Programme, and the Girls First Institute, we support adolescents, educators, families, and locally-led organisations to expand opportunity and remove the barriers that stand in the way of girls’ aspirations.
Our Approach
We put girls at the centre of everything we do. We listen to girls, learn with them, and work alongside the people and institutions that shape their daily lives - schools, families, and community organisations, government agencies - so change can last.
Our programmes engage teachers, parents, girls and boys, schools, and community organizations to shift norms and strengthen the network of allies around girls, using storytelling, education, and girls’ leadership to spark dialogue and inspire action.

Centre girls. Shift systems. Spark change.

Where We Work
Collaborating locally and globally for impact:
Our three main country hubs are Guatemala, India and Kenya
where we lead RISE and the Girls First Institute.
Our Girls Leadership Programmes - the Girls Advisory Council, Consejo de Niñas, Girl Rising Fellows and Student Ambassadors are global, engaging girls from 62 countries.
Explore Our Resources
We offer a growing library of resources for girls, clubs, educators, and community-based organisations working to create more equitable opportunities for girls. These guides, tools and learning materials are all designed to centre girls’ voices, strengthen their confidence and leadership, and support those working alongside them.

The Global Girls’ Bill of Rights® Toolkit. helps communities turn girls’ rights into action. It guides users in creating a local bill of rights, organising events, and amplifying girls’ voices online. The Bill is available in English, Kiswahili, and French.
Girl Talk!

Girl Talk features essays, interviews, art, and resources by and for girls all around the world. Girls have a lot to say about their rights—to education, safety, and more—and it's time we listen!
We publish work from girls within our programs and those of our partners. All articles here!
